And the Emmy Goes To...
I don't think it's just me, but has anyone else been overwhelmed by the number of adaptations in the last year? Every day some new show is premiering and I'm like, oh, that looks good, and it's based on a book, cool cool cool as Abed would say. And then I can't find any time to fit it into my busy schedule. I mean, there's ones I obviously couldn't miss like Little House on the Prairie, and those I'd been waiting forever to see like The Doll Factory, but I'm kind of a first come first serve girl so neither of those shows made the cut for my blog. Little House on the Prairie will at some point because it's continuing and I loved it, while the less said about the disappointment that was The Doll Factory the better. I mean, she died right!?! What the hell was that ending!?! How could they make Pre-Raphaelites boring!?! Moving on.... I kind of wanted to bend my own rules of never featuring a show twice because The Vampire Lestat is my favorite show of the year so far but I had already featured Interview with the Vampire... But the show had a new name... Alas, I did not write on the glorious glamour of Lestat, but I did write on the WTF that was Talamasca: The Secret Order. I mean, it's part of Anne Rice's Immortal Universe and if I could watch the first season of Mayfair Witches I could watch any crap they throw at me. In fact, I will watch just about anything based on a book. I am so not picky, yet I am so judgmental. It's a conundrum that is at the core of my being. So join me as I get very judgy on some of the adaptations that have come out this year. And don't worry, I didn't hate them all... Just a solid third of them.
